I Declared This Week "NO DOCTOR WEEK"

And I was a fool to do such a thing! Ani has had a cough since Wednesday of last week. I was pretty sure it must be hay fever because no one else is sick. I waited it out, but it's been a week now, and the cough seems worse. It's a deep cough, and the night spasms are keeping us both awake. So, we get to go see Dr Tuckey today! We actually really like him, even though we never seem to go visit him "just because". It's a pretty nasty cough she's got going, and I'm hoping the doc can help. Still, even with being tired and coughing so much, she did double lessons yesterday and will likely do the same this afternoon. The school work for this week is stuff she knows.... not stuff that she understands or can follow, but she KNOWS this stuff, and I don't want her to get bored. So, double lessons every day, and I'm adding handwriting practice so she doesn't get bored. I know, eventually, we'll hit a topic that's difficult for her to grasp, and I won't mind spending an extra day on it. It all equals out!

Now, if I can make the rest of the week "No Doctor Week", that would be fabulous! Because I'm hauling all 3 kiddos with me today. I've got plenty of girlfriends willing to help, but I don't know if what Ani has could be contagious, so it's best to sort of quarantine us all until we know for sure! Thanks, friends, for being willing to take on a bug so I don't have to juggle all 3 little ones at the pediatrician..... I just can't let you do that!

Poor thing has hay fever!!!! Doc actually prescribed pseudophedrine, because unless we take measures to "dry her out", her cough will not go away. Once she's through this attack, we'll look at putting her on Zyrtec or Claritin daily. I told the doctor that my recent tests were positive for EVERY air-borne allergy. He shook his head and said "Anika, you really didn't have good odds." I'm glad it's nothing contagious, but I feel so bad for her. Allergies are nasty! So far, no signs of asthma, though, so that's great!

I hope she feels better soon!
I am so sick of seeing docs too. We have been to more docs in this past month than ever before combined. It gets old fast! But sitting in those waiting rooms sure makes me grateful seeing how much worse it could be. =(
