Homeschooler's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He maketh me to live on less sleep:
He leadeth me through the noise of many voices.

He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me to teach
The right lessons each day, for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of undone
Laundry and kitchen messes, I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me, my teacher's guides and
Answer keys, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
Of threatening school officials and critical family members:
Thou anointest my head with heavenly wisdom, my cup runneth over.

Surely educated and godly children shall follow after me
All the days of my life: and I will dwell again one day
In a clean house with the Lord forevermore

This came from my daily devotional from Alpha Omega.
I laughed so hard when I read this.  It also reminds me of the
message I heard in church yesterday.  Sometimes we complain to God
and think He surely has not equipped us for the things He lays on our hearts.
There have been times I question whether He REALLY wants
me to homeschool our children, because He certainly has not made it easy.
If He REALLY wanted me to do it, He'd make it so easy and I
wouldn't doubt, right?  Wrong!  He spoke to my heart.  He spoke to my husband's
heart (which is HUGE.... convincing a man who has such value for
education to trust in God and his wife to teach his children....).
He has provided financially so we could purchase materials.
And He has rewarded me with such joy as I watch Anika learn new things
and discover Ki learning beyond his age.
Nope, it's not easy.  He HAS provided the tools, though. This is what He
wants me to be doing. And no matter how tired I feel, if I give
just a little effort, He carries me through and the lessons get taught!
THANK YOU, Lord, that I live in a country where education has so many
possibilities; from public, to private, to charter, to homeschool.... I
love that I live in a country that lets parents make the best decisions for their family!

PS Today, we will be learning a little arts and crafts as we prepare for
 Hubby's graduation on Thursday!

Have you ordered any of your AO materials yet? I am going with several different publishers for different subjects this year. I'm hoping I can keep on schedule when I have to sort it all out on my own though. Are you feeling more confident than when you started?

Yes, we already started Anika on Kindergarten a month or so ago. Some of the material challenges her a little, while other parts I can double the lessons for the day so we can go through the stuff she knows well quickly. Our original goal was to start her with first grade in January of 2012, but she might be done with Kindergarten and ready for that in November. We'll see how it goes! I'm loving this curriculum. In first grade, she'll have 5 subjects! For now, she just has Math and Language Arts. I also bought her the ABC memory verses. Oh, and I really like how they weave the Bible into her subjects. Even in Math, sometimes it has us read right from the Bible. So, it's another "text book". It's great! You're brave for picking and choosing. I don't think I'm ready for that yet, but I am confident in what I'm teaching.

Yah Liesie is working ahead of grade level too. One of the reasons I am picking and choosing because when I figured her placement for next year, in some subjects she will be K and in others she is already doing 1st grade level work. Libbie hasn't even officially started yet but she is already doing PreK-5 stuff so I'm thinking maybe going straight to K with her in the fall. Will Ki be starting next year also? I have been looking at the AO catalog and specifically the math so I'm happy to hear a good review of it.
